A nine-track concept album about a dead, uploaded mind orbiting the sun
An album I’m writing: nine tracks of industrial, dark electro, and goth house about a dead, uploaded mind orbiting the sun. It pulls from the Sobornost of the Quantum Thief books, some of Greg Egan’s work (Permutation City, Schild’s Ladder), and the series Pantheon, and it’s mostly an experiment in how far AI-assisted music production has come: my cloned voice, my lyrics, Claude for prosody and metre, Suno and Motif Forge for the production. It grew out of my Suno experiments, once I saw how faithfully Suno could cover my own recordings.
Current state: the story is fully mapped, about half the lyrics exist, and one of the nine tracks has a reference mix I’m happy with (“Halting Problem”, track 6, which started the whole thing). That track is also getting a music video (details in the update below).
The premise, the per-song workflow (including the voice-model round-trip that makes it sound exactly like me), and the other tracks in progress are in the writeup:

Halting Problem is getting a music video
Video models top out around 5 to 15 seconds per generation, so I storyboarded the song into 33 segments and built a pipeline that generates each one against its slice of the audio, chaining the last frame of one segment into the first frame of the next for continuity.
Local generation on my own GPUs came out about 4.5x cheaper than the hosted APIs and about 20x slower; a full parallel pass through WaveSpeed ran 189 generations without a failure. Now I’m cutting it in DaVinci Resolve (which I’d never opened before) with an agent driving the edit over MCP: rating takes, deleting the duds, and sampling between alternates with the cuts landing on beat.
I pointed the new video models at a 6:36 song to see what they can actually do, then cut the results in an NLE I had never opened.
