Motif Forge

Motif Forge is a local-first web app (live at motif-forge.joemattie.com) that generates riffs, hooks, and leitmotifs to feed AI music tools on purpose. Left to its own devices, Suno produces polished but generic tracks; this is where the actual musical ideas come from. The workflow is batch generation, quick triage by ear in a keyboard-driven queue, mutation of the survivors, and MIDI or WAV export for Suno to use as seed audio.

It’s active and growing, and it now feeds the production of Wavefunction Collapse directly. Four engines (two genetic algorithms, an on-device neural model on WebGPU, and Claude as composer), a Noodle panel for playing my own material in, and a library that keeps every motif’s lineage traceable across the album.
